Swimmer completes swimaathon in butterfly
Steven Shaw, founder of the renowned Shaw Method of Swimming and a former competitive swimmer, has become the first participant to swim the full national SWIMATHON distance of 5 Km ( 200 lengths ) using the butterfly stroke. One of over 2,000 swimmers in more than 500 pools across the country who took part in this annual event, Steven supported Marie Curie Cancer Care through his amazing butterfly Swimathon which he completed in less than two hours on 23rd March 2007. For this epic swim he wore Kaiman goggles by Aqua Sphere, choosing them over rival aquatic brands for their revolutionary wide-angle 180 degree vision and supersoft comfortable water-tight seal.
This year marked the 21st Anniversary of the national Swimathon event which was started in 1986 to promote the health and fitness benefits of swimming. To date it has raised over £30 million for charity and supports the vital work of Marie Curie Cancer Care as well as funding smaller local charities and other not-for-profit organisations which benefit the health and well-being of people in communities around participating pools.
Steven is the head of Art of Swimming, an organisation which teaches swimmers of all levels the essential elements of each stroke, helping people to unlearn unhelpful habits and get more out of their swimming. The Shaw Method is based on the Alexander Technique. Art of Swimming endorses a wide range of Aqua Sphere products which can be purchased from www.artofswimming.com
Having recently established a series of 'Aqua Sphere Triathlon Swim Technique Weekends' Richard comments 'I have chosen Aqua Sphere as my official swim partner as the brand provides the very best equipment for all my coaching needs. The fins, kick boards and paddles are all the best quality and my clients love them. I recommend the proven Kaiman goggle for it's snug fit, durability and outstanding quality.'
